Zest!
It’s a cozy little Balkan restaurant in Amsterdam’s ‘Upper West’ zone. Since 2012, Huby and the crew have been delighting both neighbors and travellers with our food and our friendship.
That’s not all. Zest is also home to Asperius Brewery, located right behind the restaurant. This is where we create our collection of crowd-pleasing craft beers, under the masterful guidance of award-winning chief brewer, Asparuh. His motto: “Brewing is our life, beer is our water, so don’t waste time on drinking beverages that don’t make your life better.”
The food is great, the beer is amazing, the time is now.

Our food menu has excellent choices for both vegetarians and carnivores, including some traditional Bulgarian specialties — and of course, our celebrated burgers.
We build our dishes with love and care. Only the purest ingredients deserve to appear on your plate, and every bite should be memorable. But haute cuisine it’s not. This is real, good food, for real good people — the kind you’ll meet when you come by for dinner or a drink.
You see, Zest is also about the sheer pleasure of each other’s company. The setting is relaxed and cool, often spontaneously musical. Bicycle repairmen, lawyers, guitar players, dressmakers, teachers, journalists and hiphop artists all feel at home here. We think you will too.
Our beers
‘Great beer is the right thing to do.’
The decision to brew beer should not be taken lightly. Beer is serious. It is an endeavor of both love and conscience. The product must be great — or be not at all.
Beer takes time. The true craft brewer is patient and meticulous. Every species of beer has its own personality, its own demands — and it doesn’t like to be hurried. But when the beer is right, it is a thing of pure joy.
Fortunately when we started our Asperius brewery in 2018, we already had the advantage of years of experience, in the form of Mr Asparuh Asparuhov. At present we offer several varieties to appeal to different palates. Each has its own following. And they’re now available in bottles, as well as on tap here in our restaurant.

We’re at Bilderdijkstraat 188, right near the corner of Kinkerstraat, a popular shopping street. We’re a short walk from the Ten Cate street market and the cinemas at De Hallen. Trams 3, 7 and 17 all stop at our corner.
From Amsterdam Centraal Station: Take tram 17 to Bilderdijkstraat.
From Leidseplein: Tram 7 to Bilderdijkstraat.
From Schiphol Airport: Take a train to station Lelylaan, change for tram 17 inbound to Bilderdijkstraat.
